Roots Like Mountains at Alchemy Bar & Grill in Omaha, Nebraska on June 9, 2016
An enthusiastic crowd gathered for Roots Like Mountains from Denver, Colorado at Alchemy Bar & Grill in Omaha, Nebraska on June 9th, 2016. After a brief conversation with vocalist Nathan of the band, one could see how boy bands have influenced Roots Like Mountains by the matching shirts they wore bearing the band’s logo on the back of them. However, that is where any semblance of boy bands end and the influences of Underoath and Bring me the Horizon come into play.
The range of style runs from spoken work and melodic vocals in “Heart of Stone”, the heavy riffs and guttural of “Cry Wolf”, and the hard edge of “Glass House”. They also performed a hardcore, punked out version of Selena Gomez’s song “The Heart Wants What it Wants.”
